"The Dots and the Lines - What is Global Collaboration in the Age of Great Digital Competition?" ("Digital Technology and Economy/Finance" Study Group - Expanded Public Workshop)

The Nakasone Peace Institute (NPI) held the web conference titled above with Dr. Teruo Kishi (President, Innovative Structural Materials Association, and Ex. Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs), Dr. Masato kamikubo (Professor, Ritsumeikan University), Dr. Atsuhiro Goto (President, Institute of Information Security (IISEC)), and other regular/visiting members, on February 2nd, 2021.

 
Dr. Kishi gave a speech on "Strengthening Japan's Science and Technology Capabilities --Digital technology for materials development -- from the experience of the Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs," Dr. Kamikubo spoke on "The Compact Democracy," and Dr. Goto gave a speech on "Preparedness Beyond Digitalization: National Security in the Digital Age.

 

In the following 60 minutes of lively discussion, the focus was on four main issues:
(1) Cooperation between Science and Technology(S&T) and Diplomacy, Politics, Government, and Industry; (2) Regional and urban autonomy, international cooperation, and freedom from constraints for the future in Japan; (3) Enhancing the international status of Japan's manufacturing industry and S&T through the digitization of manufacturing; and (4) S&T Security and Digital & Cyber Security.
